Every year 1,100,000,000 amalgam fillings are placed in the mouths of Americans. Each amalgam dental filling releases up to 17 mcg of mercury vapour per day.

Every amalgam filling consists of 50% mercury or 500,000 ppm of mercury, when 1 ppm of mercury in food is already considered hazardous to the human body.

Each year 550 tonnes of mercury is placed in the environment not subject to Hazardous Waste Protocols.

Up to 50,000 pounds of mercury goes into waste water each year in the U. S. 

11 kilograms of mercury is found in each chimney of crematoriums. In Minnesota, US law requires the extraction of amalgam before the cremation of corpses.

Mercury from a single filling can pollute a whole lake, including fishes in it.

With daily seafood consumption, one can absorb up to 2.3 mcg mercury per day.

Mercury from a single thermometer can pollute up to 200 million gallons of water. (The sale of mercury thermometer has been banned in the U.S.)

Mercury type Blood Pressure measuring instruments have also been banned.

The ONLY place dental mercury is not regarded as toxic waste is in the living human MOUTH. (In 2003 in the US, amalgam has been proven to LEAK mercury).

(Transient Exposure……………………………………0.02 mcg/m3

..Considered Acute, and Immediately Hazardous to Health.)

The W.H.O. in 1991 (Criteria 118) revealed that 2/3rds of the human body mercury comes from amalgam fillings.

Dentists are exposed to mercury vapor from 50 to 4,000 mcg/m3 every working day.

During the drilling out of an amalgam filling 4,000 mcg/m3 of mercury can be measured 18 inches away from the patient’s mouth. (If a strict removal & detoxification procedure is not adhered to, patients can be poisoned further & their condition can be worse than before.)

The ADA (American Dental Association) is a TRADE association, more interested in its financial welfare than the welfare of its dental patients.

The ADA held 2 patents for the manufacture of amalgam:-

1)US Patent 4,018,600 April   1977 &

2)US Patent 4,078,921 March 1978,

both assigned to ADA Health Foundation, Chicago, Illinois, USA.
